EXIM BANK RECEIVED TWO MORE AWARDS FOR ISLAMIC FINANCE DEALS OF THE YEAR 2014.

KUALA LUMPUR, Monday (9 March 2015) - Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad (MEXIM) was honoured for receiving two more awards in respect of its USD300 million Sukuk issuance. The awards are the Trade Finance Deal and Murabahah Deal of the year 2014 by Islamic Finance News Award.

The awards were presented during the 9th IFN Awards ceremonies at the Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur. On hand to accept the awards was EXIM Bank’s President/Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Adissadikin Ali.

“We're honoured and delighted to receive these awards. It is representing the world’s first EXIM Bank to issue the sukuk. The issuance is in line with MEXIM’s initiatives to grow its Islamic Finance business and would position MEXIM to capture opportunities in the Islamic Financial markets. These awards also symbolize our commitment to support the Government’s ongoing initiatives and efforts to position Malaysia as an international Islamic Finance marketplace.” said Adissadikin.

The proceeds from the Sukuk issuance will enable MEXIM to offer Shariah compliant working capital, general banking and financing activities as well as for other Shariah compliant corporate purposes. MEXIM’s effort has attracted 19% of investors from the Middle East as compared to only 5% previously.
